Last Friday, I was privileged to be able to take part in a brilliant networking event hosted by Gorkana and Brit Mums at the high-profile Judith Blacklock Flower School in Knightsbridge. The event brought together PR professionals and mummy bloggers to help us get to know each other in a more relaxed environment.

Upon arrival we received a lovely brunch with teas and coffees to get the conversation going. I soon got chatting to the lovely Elfa, from ‘Californian Mum in London’ and Jennifer from Brit Mums/’Jenography’ about their blogs and gorgeous families. It was great being able to speak openly with bloggers and find out about their blogging lives without being hidden behind a computer screen.

Then began the main event: an expert tutorial from Judith Blacklock herself. As a best-selling author and having arranged flowers for Kensington Palace it was such a treat to have our questions answered by the best in the business. This was followed by an amazing photography demonstration from ‘Captured by Lucy’, where we were taught how to take the best possible photos of flowers. It was really interesting to see how the bloggers worked, as well as the time and commitment that goes into each blog post. I think that this was one of the biggest things for the PR professionals attending: to actually see the dedication that goes into each photo for a blogger’s site.

Now, I’m not the most naturally skilled when it comes to flower arranging – in fact, my attempt to even buy flowers last Mother’s Day was a complete failure. With some expert tutoring however, I actually managed to leave the event with a pretty impressive bunch!

Thanks again to Gorkana, Brit Mums and the Judith Blacklock Flower School for such an amazing day. A huge thank you as well to the talented @esub.miah for sharing his photos from the day.
