Looking ahead to the CIOF Insight in Fundraising Conference 2025

By Salocin Group | 8 Sep 2025

Salocin Group and Wood for Trees, part of Salocin Group, will be attending the CIOF Insight in Fundraising Conference on Monday 22nd September 2025.

This year, we’re proud to support the event by sponsoring the Tech & Tools stream. We will also be hosting a talk on the day, all about one of the most significant opportunities for fundraisers right now: the charity soft opt-in under the new DUA Act .

As well as that, we’ll be on stand 6-7 throughout the day and look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible.

Maximising the charity soft opt-in opportunity under the new DUA Act

Our session, led by J Cromack, will explore the charity soft opt-in and the transformative potential it offers the sector. Drawing on Wood for Trees’ analysis of 13.1m supporters across more than 20 UK charities, we’ll show how this change could unlock £290m in additional annual revenue – with £840m projected over the next 10–15 years.

The session will explore:

  • Legislative clarity – what the charity soft opt-in means under the DUA Act and how it differs from other consent requirements
  • Compliance foundations – how to build robust Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) and ensure PECR compliance while maintaining supporter trust
  • Implementation readiness – preparing data systems, CRM capabilities and privacy mechanisms for deployment
  • Strategic best practices – email marketing approaches that respect supporter expectations while maximising engagement and lifetime value
  • Risk mitigation – lessons from commercial examples of both successful implementation and costly compliance failures

This is a must-attend for organisations keen to understand the compliance landscape and seize this new opportunity to grow responsibly.

Who you’ll meet

As well as J on-stage, you’ll see many of our team throughout the day:

  • Rich Snook hosting the Tech & Tools stream as sponsor lead
  • Lotte Buckley and Kayleigh Philps, who are also part of the CIOF Insight in Fundraising SIG committee and event organisers
  • Lorna Hinton, Joel Abbey and Naomi Hurst representing Salocin Group and Wood for Trees

Continuing our commitment to insight

The CIOF Insight in Fundraising Conference is always a highlight in our calendar. Last year’s award success and thought-provoking sessions really showed the importance of collaboration, innovation and data-driven insight.

This year, we’re proud to show how the charity soft opt-in legislation will open new doors for supporter engagement and prove how insight drives smarter fundraising and lasting connections.

If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to grab your ticket for the conference here.
