Camino De Santiago: The results are in!

By Wood for Trees | 28 Apr 2021

In March, four Wood for Trees teams embarked on the 463 miles distance between Saint Jean Pied-de-Port in the French Pyrenees, all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain for the Camino De Santiago walking challenge. All four teams walked to raise awareness for their own individual charities, and the end result has been a fantastic amount of money raised and an incredible amount of steps taken.

Within the first two weeks, most of the teams had completed the full distance, but that didn’t stop them from carrying on and seeing how many steps they could accumulate before the end of the challenge.

The final results are now in and the leaderboard has been revealed.

  1. Team Wambled – 1,344.9 km
  2. Walk This Way – 1,292.3 km
  3. Team Jefferson Perez – 1,057.5 km
  4. Team Wino – 1,025.7 km

Well done, Team Wambled!

Collectively, Wood for Trees raised over £600, and here is the total breakdown with the charity each team raised money for.

  1. Team Wambled: £138 for The National Search and Rescue Dog Association
  2. Team Walk this Way: £355 for Penny Brohn UK
  3. Team Jefferson Perez: £80 for Bath RUH Forever Friends Appeal
  4. Team Winos: £78 for Dorothy House

In April, once the challenge was complete, many of the team members then celebrated virtually over Zoom and we’re sure many of them appreciated the chance to sit down and relax their legs after having racked up the miles. Some of the teams chose to stay in Spain and some decided to visit their nearest Zoom pub – either way, it was smiles all around.

Maybe now that our pub gardens are officially open again, we’ll be able to meet up and discuss our next charity challenge in person!
